The Web2.0 tool I used was Jing. This allows me to take a screen shot of what I am doing and share with my class or group that I am in front of. I choose to show you pictures of my districts website as we are learning technology on the fly. This first screenshot is where our portal goes after we log in.
After it is launched, it welcomes you and allows you to do a variety of things such as lesson plan, assign a seating chart and look at student data. We are learning as a staff to use this site, as it will track students from school to school. This aspect will be very valuable to us for the students who are very transient.
Our district seems to be catching the technology bug. Through this portal we can also see our paystub, but back to the matter. I have used this site during parent conferences to show them and the student where some of their strengths and weaknesses are. In my quest to improve attendance I show the parents and students how many times they have been absent or late. It starts to explain itself and I am dealing with facts. This aspect helps me help my students and parents. This last slide is where we can find the information. The reports also show graphs of month-to-month attendance and gives percentages. As I progress through this school year, I will be using Jing with my staff in PD’s to go over profiles of our students and this will help us tailor IEP’s and interventions using the data provided.
